Commercial Awnings and Commercial Exterior sunblinds
Broadly speaking exterior sunblinds and awnings can be broken down into retractable or fixed types. The terms "blinds" and "awnings" are generally interchangeable in common use and the distinction between the two has become very vague. We have simply used the term awnings to describe all types.
Retractable
Retractable awnings are generally purchased for reasons of providing shade for goods in the shop window known as shop blinds or to protect customers in outside eating areas. They can be of the flat sheet variety eg President, or traditional eg The Victorian shop blind or the canopy type eg The Dutch blind.
Non Retractable
Non Retractable awnings are primarily used as decorative additions to buildings, often doubling up as three dimensional signs. However, most non retractable awnings are generically referred to as fixed canopies . Included in this category will be approach awnings which can be used to highlight an entrance or even be used as a covered walkway down stairs.
Pergola Style Awnings
These are a relatively new innovation and Deans are proud to exclusively distribute the Pergotenda awning, which is installed on its own attractive Pergola style timber frame. This awning is ideal for extending covered areas or terraces and is able to withstand up to Force 8 winds, presenting an opportunity to extend the outside dining season into those normally inclement months. An additional advantage is that a separate covered smoking area can be created outside the fabric of the main building giveng the benefits of a smoking shelter.
The Traditional Deans Victorian Awning
Back in the 19th century, when Deans started, the Victorian awning or traditional awning, also referred to as a shop blind was the only one available. It was a perfect product for the British weather and is still the only sunblind that may be confidently used in all but the most severe weather conditions.
The Built in Fascia Shop Awning
The fascia shopblind or awning is a blind where the roller and cover are housed in a pre-prepared box which has been previously installed in a shopfront, usually by shopfitters.
The President Cassette Awning
This aluminium cassette awning was introduced to the UK from Germany some 15-20 years ago and is now the most popular type of commercial installation due to itīs adaptability and good looks.
The Pergotenda Restaurant Awning and Pub Awning
With the increased pressure on removing smokers from public places it is going to be more difficult for restaurants and pubs to capitalize on this element of their trade and, at the same time, meet the new social obligations. The Pergotenda restaurant and pub awning is the solution.
Santana Awning
The Santana is a robust awning for the commercial premises on a tight budget. It works in just the same way as a cassette awning does, with sprung folding arms, but at a reduced cost due to there being no enclosing casing.
Approach awnings
Approach awnings can be made to virtually any shape or style and are used to provide protection to walkways and focus the eye onto the entrance of a building. They may also be built to go around corners or to cover staircases - even lighting is possible.
The Markilux 700 Semi-Cassette Drop Arm Awning
The aluminium cassette awning was introduced to the UK from Germany some 15-20 years ago and is now the most popular type of commercial installation due to its adaptability and good looks.
The Dutch Canopy
This is probably the most common blind seen on Britainīs shops and, apart from its obvious ability to provide shade, the Dutch canopy is also a perfect three dimensional sign when graphically decorated.
